Buying Instagram Followers: Should You Even Do That?

Have you ever wondered how other people have thousands or even millions of followers on Instagram? First of all, a lot of these people are popular celebrities and influencers. They are their brand. Not to mention they have good and enticing content posted daily.

If you have your brand that you want to grow, make sure to have your business website. Create your presence online through your social media pages as well. Build your followers and ensure to post quality content to boost site traffic and increase engagement.

Then again, it would also be a nice feeling to have many followers. After all, the more followers you have, the higher the engagement on your page. However, there is also such a thing as “buying” Instagram followers. It might sound not right, but it does happen.

This article will explain how this works, its pros and cons, and whether it is a good idea for your Instagram page.

How buying Instagram followers works

Several services enable you to buy Instagram followers as low as $10. However, these followers are usually either inactive or bot accounts. That means these accounts are just mere numbers and would never engage in your content.

Usually, some Instagram users would find someone who has contact with a bot vendor. Also, you have to find someone whom you can trust to give out your credit card details. This is the reason why buying Instagram followers can already be risky enough.

Then, you could just pray that this “vendor” is legit and won’t run away with your money (and won’t mess up your credit card details). You won’t also have to expect your new “followers” because they’re not real, after all.

Dummy followers/accounts can be programmed to create content, like, and share content. But because they are “fake” accounts, there will be little to no impact on your page (except to increase your followers). Worse, your bot followers won’t do anything to boost your brand as if you don’t exist.

On the other hand, some companies exist to sell real accounts. These accounts are solely created to get follows and likes. But these accounts will also do more harm to your Instagram account than good. Like bot followers, these accounts will simply be mere numbers and won’t benefit your account as a whole.

Should you buy Instagram followers?

With all that is said, buying Instagram followers can be a potential risk. Real engagement from real people is one thing. Most of this account most likely won’t follow you back. If they do, it won’t be in the long run.

Imagine having thousands or even millions of followers but no engagement involved. At the end of the day, engagement is still important in Instagram’s algorithm more than the number of followers. Without user engagement, buying Instagram followers will be a waste of money.

Most of all, buying followers can damage your brand credibility. Worst, you could be penalized and even end up banned or have your account closed if you are caught by Instagram. If you don’t want that to happen, you could do these things instead to boost your Instagram presence.
