5 Things You Need for a High-Quality Research

BY Chris Loomis

Content marketing is developing and distributing content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience. Every professional digital marketer knows how important content marketing is to boost your brand and help achieve your business goals.

The content can be anything from blogs, videos, images, infographics, etc. Content marketing is a powerful form of marketing because it can help you build trust with your customers and increase customer engagement. It can also establish you as an authoritative brand.

What you need for a high-quality research

Creating high-quality content involves good research skills. However, some people do not know how to research properly, resulting in poor content. Here are things every marketer needs for high-quality research and to produce amazing content:

Stating your methodology.

A good research study should publish a clear methodology. This includes how you chose your respondents, sample size, and demographics. These will help you find the right readers based on your methods.

Narrow down your study.

It is important to narrow down your study so you will know everything. However, it could be boring to read all the general information, which you won’t need.

Rather, you should focus on a specific topic when doing research. Narrow your area of study to gather meaningful insights that can help with your content. If you plan on asking people through surveys, find some in your audience so that you can easily get the information you need.

Create graphics/visuals

When creating content based on your research, you don’t just splatter numbers and texts. You also need catchy graphics or visuals to keep your audience engaged.

However, make sure to design visuals for clarity and not just for aesthetic purposes.

You also don’t have to make your visuals too fancy. Good ol’ bar, line, or pie charts will do for those who are not artistically skilled. There’s also Photoshop, Canva, and other similar software for those with graphic design experience.

Your infographics or charts should be able to stand alone and have the necessary data your audience needs at one glance. This includes the key finding(s), sample size, questions, and source(s).

You can also find sources through online journals, articles, or published research studies. Such references should not be more than 2 years old so that the data you will collect there won’t be outdated.

Collaborate with someone who knows how to interpret data.

Anyone can be a writer as long as you know grammar and syntax. However, you will need a writer-analyst who will write about the facts gathered and explain the contexts behind them. Seasoned writers and journalists are perfect for the job who can also analyze data for quality content, so make sure to look for one.

Don’t ask questions that aim to push your brand.

Some brands do it, and we think it’s sneaky. But customers can easily sense if the questions are biased towards your brand and could turn them off. Create research studies to know more about your market and the industry you are in, not to validate who likes your products or services.

Research takes time and resources to ensure quality results. It will also help you gather insights about your brand and respective industry so that you can come up with better marketing strategies in the future.
